Our Story
It all started, on a date night, with my wife, to one of those make your own candle places. We were talking about how tough it was to find candles that didn’t contain harmful chemicals—especially hormone disruptors. She didn’t want to burn anything toxic in our home, and the clean, natural candles on the market were pricey. So, we decided to try making our own. To our surprise, that little project sparked something bigger and not long after, our daughter joined in; she's got a natural talent for fragrance and perfume. We combined our skills and creativity, and just like that—Big Daddy Candle Works was born!
This company is our passion project, a way for us to bond as a family, have fun, and let our quirky personalities shine. We may have serious jobs during the day, but when it comes to Big Daddy Candle Works, we get to be ourselves, do what we love, and share it with others.
Who's Big Daddy ?
When we first started Big Daddy Candle Works, someone asked, “So… who’s Big Daddy?” Without missing a beat, my daughter replied, “I’m Big Daddy. You’re Big Daddy. He’s Big Daddy. Everyone’s Big Daddy.”
And that’s it. That’s the energy we pour into every candle we make.
Big Daddy is a state of mind — it’s confidence, swagger, and that “I’ve got this” attitude that makes you feel unstoppable. Our candles are crafted to capture that spirit, setting the mood with bold scents and unapologetic vibes that are completely, uniquely you.
When you light a Big Daddy candle, you're not just making your space smell amazing — you're tapping into that inner fire. Because we believe there’s a little bit of Big Daddy in all of us.
Sara's Corner
Hi, I’m Sara, and if you’re here, you’re probably either looking for a killer scent or just bored and scrolling through the internet. Either way, I’m glad you’re here. I’m definitely the opposite of my dad (who is a veteran and a bit of a “tough guy”type), but that’s why we make such a great team. We both get the job done, just in very different ways. I’m a full-blown fragrance collector and love everything about scents. That’s how my dad roped me into helping with Big Daddy Candle Works and why it is so special to me. Fun fact about me: I was a dancer for 14 years, so music is basically my second language. I could talk your ear off about it if you let me. If you catch me at a market booth, feel free to pick my brain about all things scent or music-related. Also, meet my son Melvin—he’s the one stealing the spotlight in the pic with me. He’s my whole world, and I like to think I’m his, too. We’re a package deal at this point. Welcome to my world of good music, cats, and candles.

Hey there! I’m Wendy — MTSU alum(‘24), event planner, marketing brain, and proud member of the Big Daddy Candle Works family (literally — I’m married to the boss!). I recently joined the team to help bring some extra sparkle to our events and a creative touch to our marketing. Whether I’m planning our next big event or helping spread the word about what we do, I love being part of this family-run adventure. When I’m not working at MTSU or juggling calendars, you’ll probably find me bribing our bulldog Harry with treats while he trains to become a therapy dog (he’s skeptical, but we’re getting there).
